Curry County has become the first county in New Mexico to enroll municipal buildings in the state’s community solar program. In partnership with Solstice Power Technologies, the county is shifting more than 2.4 million kWh of annual electricity use across ten public buildings to locally generated solar—cutting energy costs, reducing emissions, and advancing sustainability goals without installing on-site panels or investing taxpayer dollars. The move delivers climate benefits equivalent to taking 400 cars off the road while demonstrating how local governments can lead on clean energy.
